Director of Facilities is responsible for the oversight of all campus and facility operations including Facilities, Grounds, Custodial Services and Project Management for a day school in your area.

Position Summary  

  • Provides direction for campus and facility grounds and custodial operations 
  • Directly manages a staff of 10+ full-time individuals, as well as outside contractors and vendors and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees. 
  • Ensures effective and constant communications within the community of all facilities, construction, and public safety projects and related issues
  • Manages all the aspects of externally contracted vendors and department personnel management including motivation/team-building, performance evaluations, training/development, productivity, accountability, discipline, and mentoring
  • Develop and maintain a consistent department image producing a quality customer-service-oriented maintenance service
  • Oversees and manages campus sustainability programs and initiatives 
  • Develops and manages the annual operating budgets
  • Reviews and approves invoices and requests
  • Conduct regular inspection of all school facilities, grounds, and equipment to ensure high standards of safety, attractiveness, and cleanliness campus wide
  • Establishes and updates procedures for maintenance, repair and/or replacement of facilities, grounds and equipment with a sensitivity to school seasonal and operational needs
  • Responsible for the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system): assignment, oversight, and follow-up to ensure quality control and the timely, cost effective execution of all work orders; management of the Preventive Maintenance programs to ensure Preventive Maintenance is performed and documented as required.
  • Works closely with Academics, Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, and the Administration for all events on campus
  • Represent the department by building relationships with all constituencies:  faculty, administration, staff

  • All other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferably in one of the following disciplines: Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Facilities or Construction Management
  • At least 5 years of experience in facility/building/property management, construction management, and/or plant engineer (preferably in an educational setting), with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Personal experience in at least two technical trades (plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, roofing, HVAC and/or other building trades)
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Must be able to be at work on time.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work all shifts as needed.
  • Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required.
  • Written and oral communication and teaching skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with client and other personnel and the public.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies, as required by State, Local, and/or Customers.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to be on your feet, mostly walking, 6-8 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.
  • Must live in service area. No relocation costs.
