Role: Groundskeeper Lead

Pay Rate: $18-19/hr

Hours: Day Shift

Location: Pennsville School District

Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise and train groundskeeping staff in daily maintenance tasks and safety practices.
  • Direct activities including mowing, trimming, planting, and maintaining athletic fields.
  • Manage resources and equipment, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
  • Perform tasks including irrigation, tree removal, and snow removal as needed.
  • Keep grounds clean and free of debris while providing logistical support for campus activities.
  • Collaborate with management and contractors to assess and address campus maintenance needs.

 

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of groundskeeping experience, 1+ year in a supervisory role preferred and fundamental knowledge of mechanical equipment used (lawn mower, edger, weed trimmer, tractor mower, vehicle, post hole digger, chain saw, tractor accessories, ladders, dry line maker, paint field striper, snow plow, hand tools and power tools).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, snow plows).
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 70 pounds, work from ladders, and perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, and crawling.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions.
  • Must be flexible, cooperative, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be available for on-call duties, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Requires physical exertion to manually lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching
  • Requires climbing and balancing
  • Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.
  • Must provide a criminal background check.
